@artasform: 🗓 Nov 5–Dec 12, 2026 📍 David Zwirner 🎟️ FREE ✨ Yoshitomo Nara's first solo presentation with David Zwirner, and his first major solo exhibition in New York in nearly a decade, spans both of the gallery's New York spaces with nearly one hundred works, including new paintings and drawings, recent sculptures, and earlier works selected by the artist. Nara grew up in Aomori in rural northern Japan, where snow-covered landscapes and a connection to nature and all living things took root, and where he first heard folk, country, and soul music on US military radio. His new paintings, built in muted, earthy layers on canvas, styrene boards, and wood panels, sometimes collage fabric, printed paper, and cardboard into the surface, while new large-format monochrome drawings were made this year with industrial oil-based paint sticks. At 19th Street, thirteen monumental bronze heads coated in white urethane paint reference the snow-covered forests of Mount Hakkōda near his hometown. #art #DavidZwirner #YoshitomoNara
