Lukas Battle coined the name and trend "Loud Budgeting" on his TikTok and stated that loud budgeting is simply "being honest about what you do and don't want to spend money on." When I read about this "trend," I thought, "Hmmm, isn't this what I have been doing since I started The Budget Mom in 2017?" For me, loud budgeting is more than being vocal and transparent with your money values and goals. It's also about finding a community where you can openly share that information and receive support in return. Putting your money aspirations front and center for others doesn't mean "loud budgeting" requires an explanation. If you don't want to spend money on something, you can state that without feeling pressured to explain why. Loud budgeting doesn't need justification. From the beginning, I have taught and preached about setting clear money boundaries, proudly staying dedicated to those boundaries, and surrounding yourself with people who can honor and respect those boundaries. Those boundaries are a reflection of your money goals and values. For me, loud budgeting is about being real, genuine, and honest, even when you know not everyone will agree. I have openly shared my budget, real numbers, debt journey, and savings goals since the beginning, hoping more people would join my community in doing the same thing - and they did. #TBMfamily (you!) is that community! I started this community to finally shed the shame and guilt around real-life money issues and situations and replace those things with real solutions, accountability, and support. I guess I have been "loud budgeting" before it was "cool." This is one trend I like. #loudbudgeting #budgettips #thebudgetmom #mymoneymyway
