That actually happened to me, too. On my second-to-last day, I was asked if I could stay on because some problems had come up. I asked whether I would be able to keep the job once those issues were resolved, and my boss was at least honest enough to say that I would likely just end up being let go again, since the entire position was being eliminated. I left immediately. In hindsight, that might have even been a mistake. What I found truly outrageous was that, months later, they offered me the exact same position—but for €1,000 less per month.
