We should not be ruled by a dictatorship of the majority. 51% should not dominate the 49%.

We are not a true democracy with a true democracy tyranny always follows . Majority rules would leave all the power to 4 states . Everyone else’s votes don’t matter.

The United States constitution has been amended 27 times. The last amendment was ratified in 1992. Never say, "Never".

Eliminating the electoral college does not require a constitutional amendment because the practice of having all the electorates from a state vote for whatever candidate wins the state has no constitutional basis. The way electorates from each state allocates its electors is entirely up to the states, not the federal government. This is why Maine and Nebraska are able to do proportional representation, when all the other 48 states does winner takes all. The way the interstate compact works is that states band together and agree to send electorates that will vote for whoever wins the popular vote. This does not require a constitutional amendment because the constitution leaves it up to the states. You just need enough states to get 270 electoral votes to join the agreement.

Yes, let's change America to be like every other country. but what made America so great was being different yet we want to change America to be like other countries. why does everyone want to change America to the places they're moving from and hate?

at that point, just dissolve the union and let each state govern themselves and git rid of the federal goverment.

you do realize the moment you abolish the electoral college you will have states leaving the union because would have no say in anything.

Elect the president by popular vote, reduce the powers of the presidency, and strengthen the powers of the legislature. The framers originally intended the legislative branch (Congress) to be the most dominant.

Umm idk where he got the idea you need to go through congress or president this is a states rights matter for example the Wisconsin house will pass it with a simple majority it goes to Wisconsin senate they pass it, then the governor signs off on it, Wisconsin now joins the compact with their votes, they get 270 votes and then on Election Day (not the day WE vote, the day that the electoral college meets and votes) all state electors in those states that make up the compact ignore what their state voted and vote for whoever won the popular vote, so if Wisconsin agrees to this then let’s say votes for Rubio in 2028 but Ossoff wins the national popular vote, ossoff gets the votes from Wisconsin. Now how would the republicans stop this? Quite simple because they do hold the Supreme Court, they would need a lawsuit to challenge the states rights, however if they do determine a state cannot make that decision this sets a precedent that states do not have rights, which means 99% of the things that red states have been doing and pushing are illegal. And the second the dems take control of house senate and presidency in 2028, the first thing they’ll do is pack the court reinstall roe v wade, and start fucking NUKING red policy and every single argument that republicans will try to use in court will not work because of the precedent that the conservative Supreme Court set by saying states don’t have rights. It’s the same reason that trump backtracked on public execution because he didn’t want to set the precedent that public executions was back which would mean people sentenced to death, for let’s say treason will face that

We don’t need to abolish it. We need to divide the votes equally between the candidates for each state to break up power houses such as Texas and California to actually represent the people.

no i think it should be expanded to the states as well, meaning each county get their own electoral votes and winner of the most counties wins the state electoral votes. it is ridiculius that major cities r so populated thar they are deciding elections statewide
