🚨Martin Ødegaard on Arsenal being denied a penalty after Kai Havertz was fouled against Hull City: 🗣️ Martin Ødegaard: “I have to be honest, I’m still trying to understand what happened with the penalty decision involving Kai. Kai’s shirt was clearly being pulled inside the box by Mendy. The match continued, and then suddenly the referee stopped the game because there was a review. So naturally, we are thinking, ‘Okay, they are checking the penalty.’ The referee and VAR have stopped the match. They are looking at the situation. We are waiting to see whether we get the penalty. Then they come back and say it was offside. That is the part I don’t understand. If the decision they were checking was offside, why was the game stopped in the first place for what looked like a penalty situation? How can the match be paused, everyone is waiting for a penalty decision, and then suddenly the explanation is completely different? Maybe there is an explanation that we haven’t been given, but from the pitch, it was very confusing. Kai is inside the box. His shirt is being pulled. The referee stops the game. VAR gets involved. And then we are told, ‘Offside.’ Okay, but what exactly happened during that review? Was the shirt pull checked? Was the possible penalty checked? Was the offside checked first? Because when you stop a game like that, the players expect clarity. You cannot have everyone standing around waiting for one decision and then come back with something that leaves everybody asking more questions. I’m not saying this because we lost the game. We won the game. But even when you win, you have to be able to question decisions that don’t make sense. For me, that decision by the referee and VAR is completely questionable. If there was an offside before the incident, then explain it clearly. Show us where the offside was and why the penalty situation could not be considered. But if the game was stopped specifically because of a potential penalty, then why do we come back from the review talking about something else? That is what makes it difficult for us to understand. We don’t want special treatment. We don’t want decisions just because we are Arsenal. We want consistency and clarity. Tonight we got the three points, and that is the most important thing. But these decisions matter because one day you might not get the result. Then everyone will be talking about the decision instead of the football. So yes, Arsenal might have won tonight, but I think that penalty decision and the way VAR handled it deserves a serious explanation.” [ This is the source @UTD_Seth001 ]#arsenal #arsenalfc #afc #creatorsearchinsight
