Uhi Limbu :

The story I heard was that this ritual started during the small kingdom period, when the king of the area sacrificed humans every 12 days to win wars. They kept winning, but the practice slowly started to disappear as the country underwent unification. As a result, the frequency went from every 12 days to 12 weeks, then 12 months, and finally 12 years. I just heard this from a friend—it might just be fiction, but the notice and the human disappearances are true."
