I had to learn this .. if it makes your partner feel uncomfortable… it’s inappropriate

You’d think this is basic common sense until you meet that one person 😭🤣

My husband says she is just a friend but yet they text at 2am, he put a picture of him+her at the entrance of our home,he told me to not interfere cause his bond with her is more important,he imposed her presence and i quote "non negotiable" at our daughter's first birthday,on our wedding he was holding her and she was holding him and i was left hanging, same on other occasions.she only comes at our home when I'm not in town. The list is really long but nope I'm just " insecure, paranoid and seeing things where there's nothing" says he

It can even be a friend where there’s no flirty vibe what so ever, but if that friend is being elevated to a partner level of importance and consideration, then it’s not ok. For example, if you are in a long distance relationship, and your partner chooses to go on trips with friends with their limited time off work instead of choosing to visit you, you aren’t their main priority.

I’m lost on what you’re trying to say because you’re trying to argue that nothing wrong can be happening and it be not okay but your only example is the implication of other intentions through flirting. And flirting is such a vague statement because it relies a lot on what you consider flirting. To some people saying someone looks nice in an outfit is flirting. But in my experience uncomfortable feelings about partners friends usually stem from wanting to isolate them or being upset that the friend does something that you don’t. And I’m talking about friendships not people that want to sleep with your partner. But my ex used to hate some of my female friends because they did things that just showed basic empathy on a level she didn’t.

Literally had a issue like this with my partner multiple times cause he would become friends with girls which wasn’t the problem but after he would he would start treating me poorly and everything I was begging for he was doing and giving to her and was a safe space for her emotionally stay up late with her talk while I would literally beg for him to talk to me mind you these would be friends that he met a week ago and if I would say something he would break up with me when literally I would feel like I was a side chick in my own relationship it got to the point where I had to leave cause it wasn’t that he was friends with girl it was the boundaries he would cross when he’s friends with girl and I would get called insecure then later I would find out that all those girls liked him but because “he didn’t like them” back it was fine

This mindset still hinges on the backdrop of romantic relationships being superior to friendships. They are not! Friendship is actually of far greater importance and more often outlives romantic relationships, even marriage. The conversation should be about how romantic partners adjust to the existing friendships their partners had before them

I think a romantic partner holds more weight than a friend.... you literally signing contracts with that person and having children.

And I think this applies to a lot of things. You mentioned that sometimes you have to reconsider doing things that may not even be wrong just purely out of consideration for your partners feelings because you’ve chosen to be in a committed relationship with them. If you wanted to live life however you wanted to,why did you agree to be in a relationship with them? I think people just don’t really understand what a real relationship looks like

this is why I don't do the girlbestfirend thing. a lot of them have no boundaries. I won't ask him to drop his girlbestfriend, but I wouldn't simply date a man like that. it's a big NO for me

"The Peace You Keep Giving Away" by C. Morgan is about something a lot of women deal with. Always being understanding, always saying yes, and somehow feeling bad when they finally choose themselves.

Ngl some men will only be your friend to “wait their turn” so to speak, and that’s not a true, genuine friend. I have more women friends than men and I look at them the same way I look at my homies. He doesn’t respect you, he is waiting for you to pick him. I feel like people forget this really sad and pathetic aspect of male/female friendships.

I don't agree because even if I'm single why would I want to have a male friend making flirty remarks if we are just friends? That's just weird.

my BFF is bi. I'm straight. very very straight. I've known her since we were seven. we've been "flirting" with eachother almost my whole life. I'd slap her butt, she'd slap mine. she'd be like gurlll you look hawt, and I'd be like boo, you look fine. when she met her now husband I stopped doing overtly flirty things with her because it may be just us joking, but I didn't want him to think or worry or feel weird about it 🤷♀️our relationship has evolved and will continue to grow. I want to show respect, and of course, not make him feel territorial
