@whatsmyageagain_pod: Doctors kept blaming Fatiha’s weight instead of investigating her symptoms. After years of struggling with her periods, her endometrial cancer was found by chance. 💜 Hear her story in full on What’s My Age Again? Link in bio.
a hysteroscopy is HORRIFIC 😭 whenever anyone says they've had one or mentions it I swear I get flashbacks

I can’t get surgery for my adenomyosis and ovarian cysts that would probably relieve my pain because my BMI is too high. But a woman who weighs a little less than me gets to be treated for her pain. At what point do we consider that barbaric, that your weight becomes a lottery as to who has to live in pain?

I had this for 30 years doctors telling me my period issues were just because I am fat. It’s a standard response

Thank you for this honesty. Women can't be taboo anymore, we need to talk and hear about this!

they act as if you can't have actual health problems worth checking for if you're fat WHILE banging on about how it can cause other health problems... makes zero sense

It's blowing my mind they've somehow gone BACK to bmi, at least at my GPs. BMI is not a good way to assess someone's health AT ALL. It's also very biased towards European bodies.
Doctors need to drop this obsession with being a certain size = unhealthy/healthy.

uuuugh medicine is so sexist. Had PCOS and diagnosed myself. Finally got a doc to take it seriously, got on meds and sorted my periods. For the first time in almost 30yrs I have predictive periods.

She’s genuinely one of the funniest and most down to earth I’ve ever seen. I think being a hijabi especially there’s not enough discussion and dialogue about women’s issues so seeing somebody be a hijabi and be a comedian, be so open etc is so beautiful. I really love her.

I lost 145lbs and my period still tried to kill me in the end. Partial hysterectomy at 38. Oh, I also still have high BP. Losing weight literally didn’t make any of my issues go away. 🤦♀️

I found out I had endometrial cancer after having a hysterectomy to prevent it September last year (found the tumour during pathology). Told my GP that something wasn't right for years and they didn't listen, thought it was a bit extreme to have a hysterectomy. Ended up having radiation to kill my ovaries and chemo to mop up the rest.

I’m brac1 gene mutation, found out at 42, had ovaries & tubes out, straight into menopause, hot flushes within 3 days post op. No HRT. Year later double mastectomy and reconstruction. After 18 months I got on HRT as my symptoms were so severe. Had to come off it at 50 now raw dogging it, still all the symptoms there, thankfully not as severe, but 10 yrs in medical induced menopause, it’s awful, my mental health was off the charts. Last year got tested and I’m Audhd. It’s been rough AF. I’m coming back as a man !
