Mixing piano is tricky - so here is a process that's works@for adding warmth, clarity and depth without losing the character of the piano. In this video, I’m using five processes to help the piano sit beautifully in the mix: ▫️ Mixing a @spitfireaudio Intimate Grand Piano midi piano ▫️ @wavesaudio Kramer Tape with a 15ips speed, normal bias, a nudge on the record level ▫️ @fabfilter_plugins Pro Q4 EQ with a hi-pass filter up to 50hz, a 2-3dB cut at 200-300hz, softening big spikes, a boost at 2-3kHz by 2-3dBs for clarity and a small dip at 1.5kHz to make space for the vocal which can mask each other ▫️ @oeksound Soothe 3 at 200hz, 400hz and 1.5kHz in soft mode, a slow attack and fast release to remove mud, boom and ringy resonances ▫️ @wavesaudio CLA-2A opto compressor with a max of 3dBs of gain reduction on the loudest peaks ▫️ @uaudio EMT 140 plate reverb directly on the piano channel, plate B, minimal pre-delay, 2 second decay, input filter 180hz, and mix at around 15% wetness (8 o'clock) The key is getting these processes working together. A piano’s natural dynamics are part of what makes it expressive, so every adjustment should support the performance. Save this for your next piano mix! #PianoMixing #MixingTips #MusicProduction #AudioMixing #homestudio
