@crawlingoutofdebt: 💳 A credit card hack that actually made me money. 💰 A year ago, I was taking advantage of a 0% interest credit card by putting my payoff money into a high-yield savings account instead of paying the balance off immediately. 🏦 While the credit card wasn’t charging me interest, my savings were earning it. 💵 The money was sitting in a sinking fund, ready to pay the card off before the promotional rate expired. ⚠️ This only works if you’re disciplined, make every minimum payment on time, and have the money to pay the balance in full before interest kicks in. Would you try this strategy, or would you rather just pay the card off? Tags: credit card hack, high yield savings, sinking funds, personal finance, debt payoff, money strategies

I’d pay off the card then put the minimum payment amount and maybe more back into the savings account- if I could put it back fast.

It depends on how disciplined you are— we have both cc debt and a savings account that more than covers it. However the cc has 0% apr, and I value having a fully funded emergency fund. So I do both, treat the debt and savings like a priority. I take the credit card debt divided by months to pay it, and I chip at each each month. The rest goes into the savings accounts. Treating both has really helped because when we hit an emergency, I’m not reaching for the cards. I’m covered with my cash. But I’ve got to stay on top of my spending!
