@billbinton: On October 23, 2024, four coworkers were camping near a remote lake in Washington’s Goat Rocks Wilderness. At 3:43 AM, one attempted to send the following text to another member of the group: “hey uh is it cool if we start packing up now i know it’s 3:43AM but i just had a quirky and crazy realization that you weren’t the person in front of me as i was getting back from using the bathroom earlier” By sunrise, he had vanished. His boots, sleeping bag, and phone remained inside his tent. Investigators later recovered this photo and the unsent message from his phone. Despite a nine-day search, he was never found. Three months later, a search-and-rescue dog discovered a portion of a human spleen approximately 10 miles from the campsite. Forensic DNA analysis confirmed that the tissue belonged to the missing man. The other three campers maintained that none of them had left their tents that night. No further remains were recovered, and the circumstances of his disappearance remain unexplained.
