You see, they may have expected you to keep waiting, keep crying, keep hoping and keep leaving the door open for them to return. They became comfortable with having access to you, even when they were not treating you well. But something changes when you finally begin to heal. When you stop chasing, stop explaining, stop seeking their approval and start rebuilding your life. Suddenly, the person they thought would always be available is no longer playing the same game. And that can trigger attempts to regain your attention through love bombing, guilt, manipulation or hoovering.
