@user609306143323: Paris Jackson’s F*ght over her late father’s estate has reached another courtroom moment, but the latest ruling does not settle the larger dispute. A Los Angeles judge has allowed parts of the estate’s financial records to remain confidential while the legal case continues. Two orders issued on Nov. 4 let longtime estate executor John Branca seal limited details about attorney fees, legal costs and financial reports. The judge said public release could harm the estate’s interests in current legal matters, future talks and business decisions. The requests were unopposed. The decision came days after Paris filed a petition asking for $600 million to be transferred from Michael Jackson’s estate into the family trust for her and her brothers, Prince and Bigi. In her filing, Paris alleges that Branca has held too much control over their inheritance and reduced payments after she questioned his work. Those are claims in the petition, not findings by the court. The estate has denied her accusations, calling the claim that Branca withheld or reduced payments a complete fabrication. Its representative said more than $200 million has already been paid or spent for the benefit of the children and other beneficiaries. The estate also says unresolved issues, including a dispute with the IRS, have delayed full funding of the trust. The judge’s latest orders do not show that Paris lost her petition. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3. A large fortune can still leave a family facing years of difficult questions about trust, control and fairness.
