![Houston Texans star Dalton Schultz couldn't hide his disdain for outgoing Texas governor Greg Abbott following his shock election defeat on Tuesday. Gina Hinojosa was elected the first Democratic governor of Texas in more than 30 years, ousting Republican incumbent Abbott in what has long been America's most populous red state. Abbott is one of the nation's most prominent Republican governors and a steadfast supporter of President Donald Trump but Hinojosa will become Texas' first Latina governor – and the first Democrat to hold the office since Ann Richards in the 1990s. Her victory was part of an electrifying night for Democrats in Texas, where James Talarico also won, defeating Republican Ken Paxton in the race for the US Senate. Texans tight end Schultz, 30, was delighted with Hinojosa's victory in the state he has called home for eight years and celebrated by posting a brutal two-word message to Abbott on Instagram. 'Get F***ed,' Schultz wrote on Wednesday morning, tagging Abbott in the post. The 30-year-old Utah native followed up his insult to Abbott by showing his support for Hinojosa. It's not the first time Schultz has made his disgust for Abbott clear on social media, either. In February 2022, he slammed Abbott for ordering the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to treat and classify medically necessary gender affirming care for transgender youth as child abuse. 'If you think anything about what the POS [Greg Abbott] is doing about Trans kids in Texas is ok or justified, please unfollow me,' Schultz posted on X. Then, in July 2022, he responded to a tweet from Abbott that blamed the deaths of migrants on President Joe Biden. 'Never heard of a good leader who points fingers, Greg,' he commented on that occasion. Schultz, who graduated from Stanford University in 2017, has been with the Texans since 2023. So far this season he has 33 catches for 322 yards and zero touchdowns with the 2-5 Texans facing an uphill battle to make the playoffs after a shocking start. Prior to that, Schultz spent four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Trump quickly turned on Abbott and blamed him for the loss in a striking criticism of one of his staunchest supporters, despite calling him 'strong and highly respected' before the polls opened earlier this week. The President accused his ally of becoming a 'RINO,' or Republican in name only, in the last months of the race. 'He went back to his original formula, and it wasn't pretty!' Trump posted on social media. Abbott, who had been seeking a record fourth term, said he called Hinojosa and pledged to help her transition into office.
