Postpartum strength work usually starts and stops with the pelvic floor and abs. Those matter, but they don’t work alone. Your pelvic floor is part of a team. When the rest of the team gets skipped, it ends up picking up the slack. Here are 5 muscles I see moms miss all the time: 1. Glute med For pelvic stability and single-leg strength. You’re on one leg more than you think: walking, stairs, carrying a baby on your hip. 2. Transverse abdominis Your deepest core layer. It’s all about deep core coordination and abdominal support, working with your breath and pelvic floor. 3. Adductors Your inner thighs support your pelvic floor and help keep your hips stable. 4. Upper back Builds the postural strength you need for feeding, carrying, and babywearing, all the things that pull you forward all day. 5. Calves They absorb force when you land, which takes load off your pelvic floor and can help reduce leaking when you run and jump. A few more worth adding: Serratus for better rib position and breathing mechanics Proximal hamstrings for pelvic positioning and posterior chain strength Obliques for rotational core strength and pressure management You don’t need a whole new workout. Pick one or two and work them in a few times a week. Strength builds a little at a time, and every rep counts. Save this for your next workout and send it to a mom friend who’s rebuilding. #pelvicfloorpt #postpartumrehab #postpartumfitness #postnatalfitness #diastasisrecti
