What people fail to understand is David Jones is a mid - high end luxury retailer , selling luxury items at luxury prices ! It baffles me that people dont know the luxury market makes a great deal of the consumer sector .

The bigger insult is how they (and Myer) price their felt ornaments. $18 at Myer and $13 at DJ! They look so much worse in person too

Wasn’t asking to be attacked, just made a point of why it costs that much. I didn’t say I’d buy it, again explaining why it costs $50 for a single bauble. You understand inflation, cost to create an item, get it from point a to point b and that’s if they’ve come without being shattered! You’ve walked into a David jones knowing it’s an expensive place, expecting to receive a sale on an item in a dying company. As someone who works for DJs I am actually offended by the “it makes sense” comments because it’s impacting people’s livelihood with the potential store closures.

And they have the nerve to blame it on “the people” internet shopping. (I know it’s a luxury store but they can’t be surprised with the cost of living atm 🥸)

Was in the Melbourne CBD store in October. $120 for a VEGAN leather belt. Nothing special literally just a brown women’s belt with zero trimmings no designer names attached like wtf🥔

It’s literally owned by a private equity firm. Who cares if they went broke. Let’s keep our money circulating through our own economy and avoid big corporations this Christmas! Shop at markets and at your local family owned businesses
