It wasn’t that she told him. The entire premise of his curse was a trick. Klaus needed the doppelgänger to die in order to trigger his wolf curse but he also needed her blood in order to create hybrids. He needed to do both things, but he’d need to trigger his wolf curse first or else his blood wouldn’t create hybrids.

Thing is, Elena never needed to be sacrificed at all to break the curse. Only a drop of her blood would’ve sufficed. It was revealed in The Originals that Esther only used a drop of doppelgänger blood to seal Klaus’ werewolf side. All of them thought she sacrificed Tatia because she kept it secret that Elijah accidentally killed her. And it all kinda played into her hand.

Y'all in the comments are just not understanding.... Esther purposely designed the curse to prevent Klaus from creating hybrids. She used the doppelganger specifically as they key so that way if Klaus broke his curse, the girl would be dead and he couldn't make hybrids. Remember y'all, Elena wasn't supposed to survive, at the very least, wasn't supposed to stay human
