If you're a senior in high school and already know where you're going to college (or have a few schools in mind), NOW is a great time to start making connections! 👠💕✨ And no, we're NOT talking about awkwardly messaging random sorority girls!! Networking should feel natural, and there's a right way to approach it. Here are 6 things I'd recommend: 1️⃣ Start following girls you already know at the schools you're considering. Think older girls from your high school, camp friends, teammates, family friends, or girls you've met through extracurriculars. Reconnect with the people you already have something in common with! 2️⃣ Follow chapter and Panhellenic Instagram accounts. This is a great way to learn about the different chapters, their philanthropies, campus events, and what sorority life actually looks like at each school. 3️⃣ Send a casual DM to someone you already know or are mutual friends with. Something as simple as "Hey! I'm considering going to [school] next year and would love to hear how you've liked it!" can open the door to a genuine conversation. 4️⃣ Make plans to meet girls when you visit campus. If you're touring a school and know girls who attend, see if they'd be interested in grabbing coffee or meeting up! Meeting someone in person is a great way to build a relationship beyond Instagram. 5️⃣ Ask mutual friends for introductions. You might be surprised how many connections you already have! Older siblings, family friends, and high school graduates can be great resources. 6️⃣ Actually maintain the connections you make! Don't reach out once and disappear. If you genuinely connect with someone, keep in touch! Comment on their posts, congratulate them on exciting news, add them on Snapchat, or check in occasionally. And PLEASE remember, networking should be about getting to know people, not trying to secure a bid before recruitment even begins. 💗 ✨ Want more guidance on preparing for recruitment while you're still in high school?
