three years ago I did 75 miles the twin lights ride in new jersey. It rained from the time I got on the ferry from nyc. I keep going back every year after that

I once did a race and there was almost horizontal hail hammering down from the left. At the finish the left side of everyone's face was blue. And their left ear and the gap between their glasses and left eye was packed with hail.

I rode for my friend Leonard in a crit race in Napa valley, Cal. one hour of downpouring rain. I made gaps in the last lap and sprinted into the last corner with Leonard on my tail. Leonard WON !
