@wodprep: One of the biggest things that can improve your snatch is learning when to be patient and when to accelerate. Be patient off the floor, then build speed from the knee. The first pull isn't where you need to generate all your speed. Focus on keeping the bar close, staying balanced through your whole foot and maintaining your position as the bar moves from the floor to the knee. Once the bar passes the knee, that's where you can really start to accelerate and build into the second pull. If you rush off the floor, it's easy to lose your balance, pull yourself out of position and make the rest of the lift much harder than it needs to be. Think of it as building speed throughout the lift rather than trying to move as fast as possible from the very beginning. Patient first pull. Aggressive second pull.

Wodpath :
Building speed from the knee instead of the floor is a cue a lot of people only feel once the bar gets heavy enough to punish the rush.
