Men and women are different, for intelligence, the majority of men sit on the average score with more men than women concentrated on both ends of the IQ map as the extremely intelligent and least intelligent because of the greater male variability hypothesis, while the majority of women also sit on the average score. That doesn't mean there is no women in the extremely or least intelligent but that there's less of women in both extreme due to a lower variability in intelligence scores.

I wonder whether it has something to do with peer-group dynamics during adolescence. Boys can be particularly influenced by the social hierarchy within their friendship groups, where disruptive behaviour, acting out and seeking attention can become ways of gaining social approval. Meanwhile, boys who demonstrate academic ability or intellectual curiosity can sometimes be ridiculed or pushed to the margins of the group. This can create a cycle where those behaviours are continually reinforced, potentially discouraging academic achievement and intellectual development. Schools themselves might amplify this, given how much they resemble closed social environments where young people have little control over their social surroundings. Perhaps we're seeing not just differences in intelligence, but the influence of environments that encourage some boys to suppress it. Just a theory though.

love this study 😁 the greater male variability theory is very intresting if you start to consider the different types of intelligence there are (that agein is it's own rabbit hole 😂). but another explanation for this phenomena is the need for expendable people throughout history 🤔
