Sarah Longwell is a fantastic, thoughtful leader. I have listened to her podcast for years as well as her chats with Tim Miller.

Reminder: These “never Trumpers” were absolutely fine with all the heinous crap conservatives stand for, they just didn’t like the rude/crass ways of Trump. These are not our “allies”.

I think an interesting question is does the DNC realizes we are no going back to the old status quo and leadership. The progressive message is landing with the country, and tired of bought politician, and if they are stifled in pursuing solutions then the old blue guard can go as well.

Huh! But I have seen the Republican Party essentially as what it is now, but since Reagan. It’s just out in the sunlight now.

Does it have to be only Republicans and Democrats? Wouldn't it be feasible to have more organized parties? Seems like neither of the existing parties are very cohesive or aligned on politics. Wouldn't the people be better served and represented by more but smaller parties with more specific interests and visions for the country? Asking out of curiosity as someone coming from a country currently represented by 16 different parties in government.

I would love a future where there is staunch oversight of corporations - or at least a refusal for government subsidy, exceptionalism, and influence on their behalf - from both sides. That is the only way the GOP recovers. We also need to depoliticize the resilience of our infrastructures and natural resources because it makes us stronger globally and economically. Finally, the constitution needs to be interpreted by both sides of guaranteeing individual freedoms and liberties to all who come here- religious ideology should not be interfering in the lives of any American unless they choose to subscribe to it. We can debate policy surrounding process, but the weary and tired who arrive on our shores should not be persecuted. Crime is crime and should be dealt with- we should have faith in our systems to serve this end rather than other racist or political agendas. But, we are a country of innocent until proving guilty and personal freedom. Finally both parties need to commit to the fact that the only way to attack the debt is to regulate, audit, and examine our addiction to weapons development and spending. War and surveillance cannot be our only strategy for bolstering the economy.

Even in the age of trump, Republican policy hasn’t changed. It’s always been this way. Tax cuts for the rich, wars, higher deficits, cuts to social programs, etc. This is who they’ve always been. Trump has just been mask off about it. Their policies have always been terrible, so yearning for the GOP of old isn’t going to fix anything. If anything, I’m grateful trump has been so mask off because it has shown people what true Republican policies are and now we can see no one wants what they’re selling. From a policy perspective, they are the same today as ever, and that’s a reason why so many republicans have just gone alone with him this whole time. Bye 👋🏻
