I think we've reached a point where people struggle to enjoy certain experiences without feeling the need to show everyone else that they're enjoying them. You go somewhere nice, and before you've even had a chance to appreciate where you are, you're thinking about what picture to post. You go out for a meal, and suddenly getting the right photo becomes part of the experience. You visit somewhere beautiful, and instead of simply enjoying the moment, you're thinking about how it's going to look on your Instagram story. And sometimes, we're not even posting because we want to share something meaningful. We just want people to know where we are, what we're doing and how well life seems to be going. I think we need to be careful about this. Because when you become accustomed to constantly sharing your experiences, it's easy to start measuring their value by how other people respond to them. You begin thinking about what people will think when they see your story. Whether they'll be impressed. Whether they'll wish they were there. And slowly, other people's perceptions start influencing how you experience your own life. There's nothing wrong with sharing moments from your life. But you should be able to enjoy those same moments without anybody else knowing about them. You should be able to go somewhere beautiful, have a wonderful time and come home without feeling like something was missing because nobody saw it. Learn to enjoy your life without constantly needing other people to know that you're enjoying it. Not every experience needs an audience to be worthwhile.
