I hated them because it would say read all the questions before answering. And I would read a question and answer (what I thought the directions told me to do). What it really meant was read through ALL the questions first, then answer.

I’m still mad because we did one of those when I was a kid and I actually read the instructions and read through all the questions but the last question just said write your name on the paper and turn your paper over so I didn’t know that I wasn’t supposed to do the questions beforehand, I just thought I was supposed to write my name last. They made a huge deal about how only one kid in the entire grade actually read the instructions and anyone who complained about the confusion was told they were just making excuses and should actually read the instructions next time…

I got a detailed set of step by step instructions on a system I was barely familiar with. The instruction at the top of the second page was literally ‘before you do the prior step…’. Fortunately, I am a read the entire set of instructions girly and prevented a major screw up.

Actually at work some leadership at my job make interviewees do a test just like this…. It’s the most embarrassing thing to hand it to a grown adult and say complete this while we all stare at them
