Myanmar has one of the oldest civilizations in Southeast Asia, dating back to the ancient Pyu city-states and the Bagan Kingdom. Its cultural heritage, including traditional clothing, architecture, arts, and religious traditions, has developed over many centuries.
Historically, King Bayinnaung brought the Kingdom of Lan Na, centered in present-day Chiang Mai, under Burmese rule in 1558. This demonstrates the significant historical and political influence of Myanmar in the region.
However, historical connections and cultural similarities do not give any country the right to claim another nation's heritage as its own. Cultural exchange is not the same as cultural ownership.
Thailand should not misrepresent Myanmar's traditional clothing, artistic designs, or cultural heritage as exclusively Thai while ignoring their historical origins and connections to Myanmar.
Every nation's history deserves respect. Do not appropriate, distort, or erase another people's cultural identity. Respect history, acknowledge origins, and give credit where it belongs.
