@destinationaircrash: A BOEING 737 LANDS ON A GRASSY LEVEE! 😲✈️ TACA Airlines Flight 110 – May 24, 1988. While descending toward New Orleans, the Boeing 737 flew into an extremely violent thunderstorm with torrential rain and heavy hail. Both engines suddenly flamed out after ingesting massive amounts of water and hail. Repeated attempts to restart the engines failed, leaving the pilots with a powerless passenger jet and nowhere to land. Captain Carlos Dárdano and First Officer Dionisio López managed an extraordinary emergency landing on a narrow grassy levee. All 45 people aboard survived! The investigation also revealed weaknesses in engine design and FAA certification standards for severe weather conditions. #TACAFlight110 #Boeing737 #AviationHistory #EmergencyLanding #AviationDisasters
