Granny you are 1000% correct and so was your mama! If you can’t live with them exactly as they are at that moment, don’t do it. Don’t expect to go into this and think that you will “change them”. Will you both change and evolve naturally as the years go by, most likely. But that’s something you do together. You don’t go into it from the perspective of taking on a transformation project.

My parents have been married for 45 years and the advice my dad gave me was, “Nobody is perfect, your partner is going to have things about them that you absolutely hate. But you need to figure out if those things that you hate are things you can live with or things that you can’t. If you can’t, you need to move on. If you can, then you just need to shut up and deal with it because they’re not going to change, and if you harp on it, both of you are going to be miserable.” And I feel like that’s one of the most honest pieces of marriage advice I’ve ever received.
