we had a pt on cytotec and she was contracting away very comfortable with an an epidural and last time she was checked she was no where near delivery. Baby came off the monitor and well baby was in the bed. lol

What’s weird is we were trained not to do another cervical exam until at least 30 min bc of risk for infection. Every time I’ve heard “my baby is coming” and I check she’s literally 10 and the baby is lower than before though😭

Yep! I just had a patient the other day that was 5cm. All of a sudden she started having extremely painful ctx. I joked with them saying if she tells me the baby is coming I’m believing them. We had a baby within 20 minutes of last cervical exam.

Have I ever seen closed, thick, and high birth in ten minutes? I don't think so. Have I ever seen 1, 80, +1 do that? Yes. So if you want to be checked, tell me it's very different, and definitely if you say the baby is coming, I will always happily check!

So I love that you don’t do this!! my mom was a victim of this. A nurse told her “there’s no way you’re having that baby right now “ told her it wasn’t happening. My mom literally squatted and pulled me out of her body because I was coming, and then my mom always told me I was like speedster.

If I’ve checked them two seconds ago, I reassure them that I’m here and WONT leave the bedside and if behavior escalates, I’ll check again. And most of the time, they’re complete and ready to push.

Literally had my midwife take her time to come check me when I said I needed to push and I was 2 3 HOURS prior. Needless to say I was complete +2 🤷🏾♀️

When I was induced with my son, I was bugging my nurses every 2-3 minutes saying I felt a change(like they told me) they at first were like “Really? No way!” But after the first couple times, they didn’t doubt me anymore because they checked and verified I was more dilated each time. The student doctor didn’t make it before I had my son. My OBGYN BARELY made it. Lmao NO ONE expected me to be anywhere close until after shift change at 7:00AM because they started my Pitocin at 1AM. My son was born at 5:25AM. 🤣 He was READY.

This ESPECIALLY the disrespect on primes!!! No one ever takes primes seriously. Someone can be on their first pregnancy and still make quick change or have a precipitous birth. I hate when people intentionally move slow with primes because they assume every prime will have a slow labor or they don’t know what they’re feeling lol
