"some people grow apart" Not everyone does and it's always written terribly. I don't mind characters getting separated if it's written well but if it's just to tug on the heartstrings of the audience then it always sucks 💀

Unironically The Hobbit. Bilbo returning to Bag End after seeing the Durin’s die, leaving behind the dwarves who genuinely cared about him, only to find his home ransacked by his own relatives hurts my heart every time. The thing that always gets me is that one of the last shots we get of him is him standing in his empty home, looking out a window that faces the direction of Erebor and it hits me every time I see that scene that Bilbo never moves on. He spends the rest of his life telling the children of the Shire about his adventure, while being labeled as crazy by the Shire as a whole. Outside of Frodo and Gandalf, the only interactions he has is judgement from his community and that’s so incredibly sad to me. I wish he’d gone back to Erebor, I know the company would have been happy to see him again and welcomed him with open arms
