@itvnews: Reporter @dennythejourno visited Denmark with Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden to learn how the country has such high employment rate for disabled people. The minister said there are “lessons to be learned” in the UK from Denmark, who subsidise paid jobs for disabled people out of work. Pat McFadden told ITV News that whilst he can’t “lift and shift exactly the same scheme”, the UK could follow “the success of what’s happened in Denmark.” #itvnews
So much better. Job centre in this country does nothing but make you feel miserable doesn’t support you get a job in your meetings and feels like a forced check just to get support

Businesses are not suddenly going to change their ways of hiring or their working environments just because the government says they will. Many workplaces will still be toxic, inaccessible and awful places for disabled people, especially those who need additional support, flexibility and reasonable adjustments.
There needs to be proper protection in place to guarantee that disabled people do not lose any of their benefits or financial support when trying to enter employment. Nobody should be forced to risk their financial security, independence or health just to find out whether a job or working environment is suitable for them.
Disabled people should have the freedom to try working without the fear of losing their benefits, especially when employers themselves are not being held accountable for making workplaces genuinely accessible and inclusive.

This isn’t really showing the full story. Denmark also has a much more comprehensive disability benefits and social welfare system, providing financial support, services and assistance to disabled people.
You cannot simply compare employment figures or welfare policies without looking at the wider support systems in place. Disability support should be about respecting people’s needs, protecting their independence and providing proper financial security, rather than pushing forward with harmful cuts and austerity measures that risk increasing poverty, inequality and hardship.

Denmark provides significantly higher levels of financial support through its disability pension system, with payments equivalent to around £2,461.48 a month, compared with around £750 a month for the highest rate of PIP in the UK.
This highlights why I believe PIP needs to be increased significantly above its current rates. Disabled people already face additional living costs, financial hardship and inequality, and the current level of support is simply not enough to provide a decent standard of living, independence and financial security.
Instead of pushing further cuts, restrictions and austerity measures, the government should be looking at increasing disability benefits and providing proper long-term support.

Because they don’t put everyone through university which saves hundreds of millions each year. We just send any chump to Birmingham Newman university where there tax payer paid for them to study art for 4 years. Make BBB a minimum university standard

The government don’t steal and give contracts to their mates and have illegal parties whilst telling the nation that we are lockdown. The entire country sees that the government corruption is not being dealt with. They get away with breaking the law that we must all abide.
