Leave a chat idle for 5 minutes or an hour, depending on your plan, and the cache goes cold, so your next message rewrites the whole chat at a premium: a 400k-token Opus 5.5 chat costs about 8 cents from cache, and a cold rewrite runs $2 to $3.20 for a single message. Cache Keeper shows a countdown, keeps the cache warm for up to 4 hours with /keepwarm and asks before an expensive send. Goal Meter adds a progress bar with percent done and time left to /goal, and Collision Guard warns you when Claude is about to edit a file another chat just changed. The mods are free, Anthropic is rolling them out gradually, check access with claude plugin test. In my view, Cache Keeper matters most if you’re on the API: the cache lives 5 minutes there, so every call in the middle of work shows up on your bill.
