@cbsmornings: Kerr Smith, who played Jack McPhee on “Dawson’s Creek,” opens up about what it was like to find out his character was gay and would be coming out on the show: “We had protestors… I don’t think we have that anymore, which is beautiful, which is the whole point of why we did it.” #kerrsmith #dawsonscreek

They really need to work on their interview skills. It's 90% them talking, 10% the guest

His character coming out to his father helped me deal with my own parents as a teenager back then. Will always be thankful for him

His character was truly a real gay icon for Millenials. This was the first non-tragic gay character growing up.

Kerr's book is my most anticipated read for 2026. millennial here, so I have fond memories of watching Dawson's Creek growing up. the day the 2 part finale aired, I bawled my eyes out. I still do. no other show has reached me so deep. 💞

i was probably 23 or 24 when this episode aired. i was deeply closeted and religious. i watched it 100 times and i wanted to talk to everyone about it and shout it from the rooftops (but couldn’t and didn’t.) we had SUCH a different experience being gay and closeted in the 80s and 90s
