The people who told us we wouldn't notice the repayments were the people who had free universities from 1962 to 1998 [Tears of joy] we thought they paid like we did and they thought we paid like they did.... and the government mugged all off before the multiple generations clicked what was happening

I dont think its just the universities. when you go to a sixth form or college where majority of kids go to uni straight after, its presented as the only option, like taking out the loan was just something they HAD to do to ever get a job.

£700 a month for me and I’m now like many others not incentivised to earn much more when for every additional £1000 earned I will take home £280.

Over £200 a month for student loans but was told it would be like a phone contract. When the loan expires I would have paid off more than the loan and still have a massive amount left to payoff due to interest. Took out £56k and currently owe £72k

Why does the interest rate go up if you’re a high earner? 1. We were never told that was a possibility 2. In what world do high earners get worse rates than low earners

the worst part is if your rich enough to not have to take out a loan you dont get "graduate tax" at all , rich win again

Yeahh i was told i wouldn’t noticed the repayments by my sixth form teachers but i definitely do see the £60 student finance deduction each month and it’s not as if the debt sum is going down each month at all due to the increased interest added to the debt sum each month. It feels more like a tax on my higher education rather than repaying a debt.

mine is £460 a month and that's barely outpacing Interest. it's a huge financial burden and its making it incredibly difficult to save anything
