@yacht_buoy: Her owner is making a very unusual offer, and I will come to that. This is Reel Steel, a 60ft steel expedition trawler designed by Hakker and built by J. Reynolds in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2000, and she is lying at Gold Coast City Marina in Queensland, Australia. Look at that profile. Her bow is high and strongly raked, a long raised foredeck sits behind hefty bulwarks, and her broad, squared-off transom gives her the look of a small ship. A mast and boom on the foredeck lift her tender, and she has new steel batwing stabilisers to keep her steady at anchor and underway. She is powered by a single Gardner 6LXTD, one of the most respected marine diesels ever made, serviced this July with around 1,900 hours. Her listing quotes an 8-knot cruise on 18 litres an hour and more than 3,000 nautical miles of range from 7,000 litres of fuel, and a three-phase electric get-home motor can push her along at 5 knots on its own. Below decks, she sleeps eight across four cabins, and every cabin has its own shower and head. With 5,500 litres of fresh water and Starlink on board, she would make a lovely liveaboard explorer yacht for a family or two couples. Her price has dropped since I wrote about her, and she is now for sale at AU$895,000 (approx. $626,600 / £465,500 / €558,200). As for that unusual offer, I reveal it in my free explorer yacht newsletter. Link in my bio. Can you guess what her owner is offering? Tell me below. #boattok #yachttok #expeditiontrawler #steelyacht #liveaboard
