@siadvance: The city’s yearslong interest in bringing a homeless shelter to the former Bayley Seton Hospital site has resurfaced. Staten Island elected officials said they were briefed on plans for a 200-bed shelter at the historic Clifton campus. A city notification said the facility would serve 200 families with children, with an opening expected by late 2028. Exactly where it would be located on the 20-acre site remains unclear. I notice they put it in low income higher crime and drug areas..to keep the misery cycle going

It’s a lot of wasted space now .. make it something useful .. maybe more than just a shelter but a whole center for community and island

And that will definitely tear down the urban community. It’s bad enough that they are struggling I don’t think it should be there. I understand that they need to be a police to place the homeless but I don’t think it should be pacifically in that area not right there.

This building is ravaged with asbestos and that's the reason why it should be kept closed. The other buildings that they had which were demolished because all of them had asbestos throughout. Unless it's gutted and the removal of asbestos is cleared then it would be fine. But if these elected politicians cut corners then it will be the demise of many families they put in there.
