please note that when washing any brush (aside from silicone) you should always dry it either on a flat surface or bristle side down. Bristles are held in with glue, no matter the brush, and drying bristle side up will result in the water pooling on top of the glue and will drastically shorten the lifespan of the brush and cause the bristles to fall out much faster

For a natural bristle brush, go to a paint department and get a wire brush cleaner. It looks like a wide-toothed comb. You can run your brush under the water and comb out any gunk.
