Lucky Man! :) :
'Twas the night before Holy War, and all through the state,
The Cougars were ready, while Utah fans trembled at fate.
The blue jerseys were hung in the lockers with care,
In hopes that the Utes soon would find despair.
The Cougar fans nestled, all snug in their beds,
While visions of touchdowns danced through their heads.
With royal blue and white proudly worn,
We prepared for the battle that we'd win tomorrow morn.
When out in the valley arose such a roar,
I sprang from my bed to see what was in store.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
To see Cougar Nation preparing to clash.
The moon over Provo shone brilliantly bright,
As BYU prepared to put up a fight.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a blue-clad army with nothing to fear.
With a confident coach and his players in tow,
I knew in a moment the Utes were in trouble below.
More rapid than eagles, the Cougars they came,
And Bachmeier whistled and shouted their names:
"Now, LJ! Now, Legend! Go, break through that line!
Let's dominate early! It's Cougar winning time!
Break through those blockers! Go hard every down!
Now dash away, dash away, to the end zone… Touchdown!"
As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly,
The Utah defense watched their playoff hopes die.
The Cougars stormed the field with a thunderous roar,
While the Utes wondered what they'd signed up for.
Their fans wore red, but their confidence was thin,
They talked about tradition, but forgot how to win.
The fourth quarter arrived, Ute fans spirits low.
They realize it’s passed noon, so to buy beer they go.
But the Cougars stood tall, their resolve never bent,
And the Utes' last hopes were officially spent.
The final whistle sounded, the victory was clear,
The royal blue faithful erupted with cheer.
The Holy War trophy belonged where it should,
With the mighty BYU Cougars, just as everyone knew it would. And I heard them exclaim as they marched out of sight: Happy Holy War To All, And To All A Goodnight!
