Honestly, Alaya is right but her approach/advise has also been poor on the matter. In my opinion, The best thing Marinette can do at this point is gather all the information on the subject, possibly have people on standby to help relay the information, and then as Ladybug approache Adrian with one question. Does he wish to know all the details? (or something on that matter). Alya was right that the truth will come out eventually, but it's better to do it on your terms, and be ready with the needed resources.
