@theventure: Liquid Paper's early bottles were filled by a future Monkee. When Bette Graham turned her paint into a business, she had no factory and no chemistry training. She worked out the formula in her kitchen, and set the kitchen on fire once. She bought fingernail polish bottles, and filled them by hand. Her first workers were her teenage son and his friends, at $1 an hour. At about 15, he put on a suit and went out to sell it too. Ten years later, he was on TV as Michael Nesmith of the Monkees. When Bette died in 1980, months after selling to Gillette, Michael inherited half her fortune, about $25 million. It came from the same paint he had once bottled for $1 an hour.
