@pbsnews: With NASA preparing to deorbit the International Space Station in the next few years, astronaut Karen Nyberg reflected on what it will feel like when the station is disassembled and brought down to Earth. “The original design of the space station was about 15 years, so it’s done incredibly well,” Nyberg told Horizons host William Brangham. “Any place you lived and loved, when it's no longer functioning, it will be sad," she added Astronaut Don Pettit said commercial space stations are “significantly smaller capability platforms” compared to the International Space Station. “We will not have this capability built for a long, long time in any follow-on space station,” Pettit said. Horizons from PBS News dives into the science, health, technology and environmental issues making headlines each week. Ella :

At least there will still be the Chinese space station doing research.

Dust Pond :

Don Pettit !! I got to watch the Artemis II splashdown with him

Deer Woman :

Commercial stations that primarily benefit private individuals is honestly embarrassing for our society. Why the fuck are we okay with Dr. Evil James Bond level villains

Alex :

Why are we not funding this?!?!?!

Lacie Nae 🎃🖤🍉 :

We are slowly losing too much funding for what is important, which is science research. Funding for scientific research is far more important than funding unwanted and unnecessary wars.

Jimmy Paton :

They’re doing it to privatize space.

Nicolas Robert :

This guy is telling us everything 🥴The world wasn’t enough for corporations. They need to own the space, as well.

David :

Can we PLEASE put boosters and send it on its merry way to deep space.. see how long we can stay in contact with it. Can it be retrofitted with some energy source..similar to voyager. 😭

gregorydrawbond :

Disassembled?? Gonna crash !! Save it !!

Islandknight242 :

Are we reverting?

US no longer invests in great big things. China does so humanity will keep advancing

palygos_ :

This is nuts. We spend trillions on war instead of this research. Cmon people wake up. We have to get off this planet.

wizo1960 :

WTF? First Skylab. A perfectly usable space station and now ISS. What is the matter with the USA? Do they know what that’s going to cost to replace. Besides, what is us space adventurists going to look up at every 91 min?

😂 who believes this 💩
