@richardakers27: Led Zeppelin, formed in London in 1968, brought together vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. They pioneered hard rock and heavy metal with their blend of heavy electric guitar, blues, and folk. The band evolved from the "New Yardbirds" and secured a deal with Atlantic Records that gave them artistic freedom. Over ten years, their eight studio albums achieved both critical and commercial success, making them one of the best-selling music artists ever, with an estimated 200 to 300 million records sold worldwide. Their debut, Led Zeppelin (1969), featured tracks like "Good Times Bad Times" and "Dazed and Confused." Led Zeppelin II (1969) included "Whole Lotta Love." Led Zeppelin III (1970) opened with "Immigrant Song," and their untitled fourth album, Led Zeppelin IV (1971), is one of history's best-selling albums, featuring "Black Dog," "Rock and Roll," and the iconic "Stairway to Heaven." Other notable albums include Houses of the Holy (1973) with "The Song Remains the Same" and Physical Graffiti (1975) with "Kashmir." Page primarily composed the music, while Plant wrote most of the lyrics. They became known for their record-breaking tours in the early 1970s. After Bonham’s death in 1980, the band disbanded, with the surviving members reuniting only for sporadic concerts, such as the 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert. Led Zeppelin achieved eight consecutive UK number-one albums and six number-one albums on the US Billboard 200. Rolling Stone hailed them as "the heaviest band of all time" and "one of the most enduring bands in rock history." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. #LedZeppelin #RockHistory #MusicLegends #RockMusic #onthisday
