and here I am trying to figure out how to get an IUD without my parents knowing and I’m 22. I know it’s covered under insurance in my state but my parents would stop paying my tuition if they saw it on the insurance statement and found out. I can’t even imagine going to my mom for anything personal at all, I’m glad your mom was supportive :)

As a pregnant young mama, I am so happy you didn’t feel pressured to keep the baby and that you had a support outlet. You did what you felt was best for you and your situation. Don’t listen to anyone who shames you because those same people wouldn’t have adopted your baby if you had chosen to go through with the pregnancy. You go girl 🩷.

I worked at PP for over a year and while those days are incredibly hard, providing abortion care was the highlight of my career so far. I don't think people understand the number of women that choose that option based off being in an abusive relationship or that the fetus is non viable. That percentage is significantly higher than is reported.

I have a little girl now, and I’d hope that we’d have this sort of relationship in the future where she could trust me with this information. I’d just want her to be safe and for her to have someone with her if she needed. I’d just need her to be okay.

i planned on going through it alone - but i did end up telling my mom and it was the best decision i made. similar to you, she’s very progressive and i knew she’d stand by me but i still was terrified. i took the second pill and went through the worst pain of my life, i was on the bathroom floor blacking out and had to call her from there. i told her i was going through an abortion and i needed help, she drove an hour to my dorm and drove me to the ER. she got me food, checked up on me the next day and showed no judgement.

My daughter told me she needed an abortion and we paid for it, took her to her appointment in ATL, set up our guest room with adult diapers, replaceable pads, lots of snacks, drinks and books. And we (her dad and I) made sure we were present for anything she might need.
