This is an old story but: I had a friend who works in I.T. do a house call for an old lady to help fix her computer. When he got there, he noticed in the CD drive, several bank cards were stuck in there. She had assumed that's how you did online banking, and thought her computer had just destroyed her cards.

Years and years ago, I worked for my county’s library system in a small town. The library was in the basement of the courthouse. Someone called and asked to be transferred to the Circuit Clerk’s office, upstairs, and I explained that we didn’t actually use the same phone systems so no way to transfer. Then, he asks for their phone number, and I said I don’t know as THIS WAS THE LIBRARY. He yelled, “And a fountain of information you are, too!” and then slammed the phone down.

Dear lord, the number of people that don't know how to use their phones and don't know their usernames or passwords is crazy. I work remotely, so I have to try to walk them through things over the phone. They don't know how to look at their text messages while on the phone with me. And, when we get through that and get a new password made, the number of people that immediately FORGET the password they JUST made is mind boggling! 🙄

"is there a reason someone here would have your password?" is a great question actually. rather than roast right away, you checked to make sure it wasnt like he had been in the shop and the guy there earlier knew he was having trouble and mightve figured something out.

I had a customer today come in and bring in their broken fold and said that we put on a screen protector. No carrier sells a screen protector for the inside of the folding devices so he proceeds to pull off the LCD display to prove that a screen protector was on there. 😭
