@emperorhistorian1: What even was changed by a time traveller? Well let’s go to the Middle Ages, to the crusades. The age of the crusader, Richard the Lionheart and Saladin. Knights in the desert doing battle. The third crusade almost couldn’t fail, until almost as if a time traveller went back in time it collapsed completely. The medieval period is fascinating and this is one of the great stories from history #crusader #medieval #knights #kingdomofheaven #HistoryTime
if the bizantine empire never fell, spain and portugal wouldnt have had the urge to find new comercial routs and america would have stayed undiscovered

Miguel de la Paz, heir to both Spain and Portugal, died young. Had he inherited, then rather than Spain and her empire becoming the milk cow of the Hapsburgs' (the eventual inheritors) Central European during wars, the Iberian Empire would have expanded all throughout the New World. Whence then the British Empire, and, of course, America? Because it was an American who went back and killed the poor kid.

Titanic. Imagine avoiding the iceberg. Firstly, movie history would never have been made and Leo's career might have been completely different. More seriously, it is genuinely interesting to think how much influence some of those that died could have had on pre-war American society and economy.

It's 1071AD, and Byzantine Emperor Romanos makes the baffling and foolish decision to delegate command of the reserve force at the Battle of Manzikert to rival Andronikos Doukas. Who persuaded him that this would be a good idea? As the Roman army fought the Turks, Romanos called forward the reserve force. Andronikos ignored the order, falsely spread the word that Romanos had been cut down, and withdrew his troops at the crucial time, leading to Roman defeat and the capture of the emperor by the Turks. The consequence of the battle was the appeal to Western Christian kingdoms for help against the Turks, and the Crusades. Without that one decision to appoint an untrustworthy leader, the battle could have been won, in which case there would have been no Crusades.

If Karl XII had not overextended against Russia after having already beat them badly enough they were trying to make a peace treaty with Sweden, i wonder how that could change the course of Swedens history

I have never fully understood how Pope Leo I talked down Attila from invading all of Europe in 452AD when it was almost a fait accompli. What did he tell him to make him change his mind? I just don’t understand, nothing short of a miracle

Let’s go further back! Why did Mark Antony abandon his fleet and chase Cleopatra? I think he was in target to defeat Agrippa and then we’d have no Roman emperor
