I work in SPED too, and they tell us not to run after them because it can make them run faster. But even when you don’t, they just keep going! You’re like, “Shit!” because your first instinct is to run after them to make sure they don’t get hurt.

I had a preschooler once run outside to the parking lot in the dead of winter. He was not stopping so I yelled “(name!!!) I bet you can’t make a snowball!!!” And that’s what stopped him. Same kid that I almost called the police for because I couldn’t find him after he sprinted out of the room… hid in a bathroom of a whole different wing. That year did me in.
