@punkrockjournalist: Is Waylon Wyatt the Next Alan Jackson? Inside the Country Star’s Packed Fillmore Show 🎸 photos by myself and Patrick Craig 🇫🇷 🥖 📸 “I first stumbled across the young Arkansas singer-songwriter through one of my new music shuffle playlists, when a duet with Carter Faith, “I’m Sorry, But I Love You,” stopped me in my tracks. There was something remarkably old-fashioned about the recording, with its gorgeous pedal steel, soulful delivery, and unmistakable outlaw-country sensibility. Wyatt possessed the kind of deep, seasoned country-western voice that sounded as though it belonged to a man who had spent several decades accumulating heartbreak, wisdom, and whiskey-soaked stories. Naturally, I assumed I was listening to someone considerably older. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the singer was only 19 years old. The more I learned about Wyatt, the more intrigued I became. Here was a young musician with a voice that seemed to have arrived fully formed, singing music that sounded more like something my parents might have played than anything I would expect from a teenager. I mentioned the discovery in my weekly On Repeat column, and shortly thereafter, an invitation to see him perform at San Francisco’s legendary Fillmore appeared in my inbox. Sometimes the universe has a funny way of connecting the dots, and I wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to see whether this young man’s live performance could possibly live up to the recording that had caught my attention.” https://punkrockjournalist.com/waylon-wyatt-concert.../ l i n k in bi0! #WaylonWyatt #theFillmore #livereview #dirtcountry #punkrockjournalist
