@chefdudeboards: Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese method of charring wood to preserve it and make it more water resistant. “Yaki” means to burn or char, and “Sugi” refers to the Japanese cedar tree. Here, we’re burning the surface of a leaf-shaped board cut out of cedar and then using steel wool to scrape off some of that char.
