@olafootballtalks: Did Jorge Jesus play a role in Cristiano Ronaldo's shock international retirement? The Portugal manager has finally addressed the controversy, admitting that he may have accelerated Ronaldo's departure but insisting he wasn't the reason behind it. Portugal manager Jorge Jesus has finally spoken about Cristiano Ronaldo's international retirement, admitting that his decisions may have accelerated the Portuguese legend's departure from the national team. Speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal's upcoming Nations League matches, Jesus was asked whether Ronaldo had retired because of their relationship. His response was revealing. Jesus admitted: "Maybe I accelerated things, but to say he left because of me, no." He explained that Ronaldo had already been thinking about retirement and that the decision was ultimately his to make. The manager also insisted that he would not change how he handled the situation, saying his decisions were made in the best interests of Portugal and the team. Jesus further revealed that he had not spoken to Ronaldo since his suspension, explaining that he had planned to contact him after including him in the squad. Despite the controversy, Jesus praised Ronaldo's legacy, describing him as an icon and highlighting the deep friendship they had developed over the past year and a half. He also made it clear that Portugal's ambitions would remain unchanged, insisting that the national team's responsibility to win remains exactly the same, even without Ronaldo. #ronaldo #cristianoronaldo #portugal🇵🇹 #football #fans
