@melanievasquez0531: After seven days of testimony, the jury only needed a few hours to reach a verdict. Cooper Ouellette was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Sophie Ringquist and guilty of delivering alcohol to a minor. He was originally charged with first-degree manslaughter, but the jury came back with the lesser charge. Sentencing is still ahead. In Connecticut, second-degree manslaughter carries a sentence of 1 to 10 years. I keep coming back to the fact that Sophie was only 17. Her family has had to sit through this entire trial and relive an unimaginable loss. My heart goes out to Sophie’s family. No verdict can bring her back, and they will have to live with that loss every single day.
