@itsbrittneelee: 💔 PLEASE HELP MY SISTER BRIANA FIGHT FOR HER LIFE! ❤️ After surviving a stroke in September 2024, Briana developed progressive dystonia, a devastating neurological disorder causing painful, uncontrollable muscle contractions throughout her body. Her condition is rapidly worsening. She has endured repeated hospitalizations, episodes where she stopped breathing and required CPR, and just two weeks ago, a minor heart attack from the extreme stress on her body. We are desperately searching for neurological specialists, advanced treatment programs, clinical trials, and financial assistance to help save her life and preserve her independence. Briana has worked for herself for over 20 years, but her condition is making it increasingly difficult to work. The medical bills and cost of daily care are overwhelming. 🙏 WE NEED YOUR HELP! ❤️ Know a doctor, specialist, or program that could help? Please reach out! ❤️ Know of medical grants or financial assistance resources? Please share! ❤️ Able to donate or share her story? Every bit helps! One share could reach the doctor who changes everything. One donation could help her keep fighting. 🔗 Donation link in comments. Please help us give Briana hope, answers, and a fighting chance. ❤️🙏

has she taken any flouroquinolone antibiotics like levofloxacin or cipro? they can trigger dystonia in some folks.

that looks more like a seizure than dystonia. not saying it couldnt be both. my mom, myself and my oldest daughter have all had seizures and they can look like that. Post-stroke epilepsy is real. can come one weeks or years after. Best of luck to you and your family. Stay strong and keep advocating. Make lots of noise. Someone will hear you 🫶

For those asking… she has been tested for stiff person syndrome, lymes and ebv. I agree it doesn’t look like dystonia, as I mentioned. However this is progressive dystonia as it only was in her hand and face for a few months and has worked its way down her body. Just in the last month, it looks like she may be having seizures as well. She is having an EEG done next week. She is seeing a neurologist but he keeps referring her off to the movement specialist that she can not get into until March. She is in the Seattle area if there are any doctors that are familiar.

My ex sister in law had similar happenings and she was finally diagnosed with pseudo seizures, she also had a stroke due to these episodes. The higher the stress the worse the episodes were! The strength that she had during the episodes was crazy! Hugs, prayers and I hope you can find some answers asap!

Botox injections in the affected area can help reduce the spasticity and tone for patients with dystonia. however I agree with some other commenters that this also is presenting somewhat like a seizure which can be a comorbidity. particularly the way she passes out at the end which he's not uncommon post seizure. I hope that you're able to get her the care she needs. hugs to you and your family

Can you get her to Houston? Walk in Ben Taub ER. She'll be taken nextdoor via a tunnel to Hermann Memorial Neurology center. This is most likely a complex partial seizure disorder

antidepressants and antipsychotics causes this a lot of times and Drs don't warn of these medicine side effects a lot of times. I stopped taking a lot of mine because of some bad side effect some the caused me to try to end my life it was a terrible time. people please do your research before starting and stopping medications. alot of time they mess with other medications you already taking as well!

It actually looks like it could be several Movement Disorders; Cervical Dystonia, Body Dystonia, the face looks like Meige Syndrome- these can all be part of Segmental Dystonia. Good you're looking for a movement disorder neuro. What does equate to dystonia per se is the syncope (fainting). She could have Functional Neurological Disorder, but we're the internet, not drs. Contact Dystonia Research Foundation. https://dystonia-foundation.org/ . Best to your family.
